Harper's Island, and Speech class.

Well, that's three more down on Harper's. (Poor #3; they're so merciless.) But I'm having trouble following the gigantic cast, so at least it's being whittled down so I can keep track of everyone, lol.
It's pretty great with giving you just enough to make you think you can predict it (e.g., JD at the beginning, and #3 and #4), and then totally throwing you a curve (#3.5!!!). I wasn't too shocked by #5 -- frankly, after everything I've heard about Saw, I was expecting bloodier, not that it didn't look damn scary and painful -- but the fact that her other half (*cough* You know what I mean.) made it through the entire ep? Now THAT was a shocker. Just as I was thinking I was amazed X made it through the whole thing, X wanders off and I'm like "Oh, yeah, here it comes," and then #5. Show, thanks for keeping me on my toes. I've never been able to predict a show before, even with the horror movie set-up that ought to make it easier, and there's no reason to start now. *grin*
Also, a lot of people were manipulative and/or creepy assholes this ep. Geez. Something in the water, lol? (As an aside: I tell ya, I'm not gonna miss #4. Creeper. Just saying.)
Oh, and man, when they found#5 #4 (that was in the ep, right, and not the preview? I can't remember), I was all "Finally they FOUND someone!! -- Oh, wait, they're gonna think... aw, shit, guys, come on."
The preview made me happier, though. That was some preview. I bet I could watch that ten times and still not catch everything. I might be in love with it a little.
Finally, creepiest text message ever sent. AM I RIGHT OR AM I RIGHT. Jeeeeezus. *shudder*
In other news, I've decided to change speech topics. Gonna save NASA for the persuasive (so I can focus on "why space travel is good", "why you should care", and the like), and do the trans speech I've been planning as my informative next week (he gave me the last slot next Friday, w00t). I figure doing a persuasive on trans stuff like I'd planned would force me to narrow the topic in such a way that would really not be doing the subject or the educational opportunity justice, and the persuasive works better for the space one, anyway. It's for the best all around, not least because I'm definitely working piles harder on it now. :) (Plus, I've got plenty of presentation aids, heh.)
And tomorrow's the Day of Silence, they're wrapping up Pride Week with "She's a Boy I Knew" tomorrow night at 7 and Rocky Horror on Saturday, and it's going to be pretty much kickass.
ETA: Mostly for my reference, www.harpersglobe.com/tv is where CBS is putting the eps.

Date: 2009-04-18 12:34 am (UTC)About Harper's Island: Yes, creepy person is very creepy. I'm watching the show, and despite not really liking horror movies/shows or many of the characters, it's hooked me.
And on another note, have you seen Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers? If so, doesn't JD (Henry's brother is JD, right? I have issues in putting names to faces) look kinda like Grima Wormtongue? I think that's gonna bug me a little bit when I watch.
Really long comment....
Date: 2009-04-18 01:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, I guess not liking the characters is a good thing for this show, isn't it? Myself, I'm just trying not to get too attached to anyone but the MCs (I've been a Christopher Gorham fan since Medical Investigation, so I was really expecting him to be offed sooner, but looks like he's gonna manage for a while, at least).
Nope, I haven't seen (or read) Two Towers; I never could get into LOTR. I've seen the first movie (and that wacky, low-budget animated version of The Hobbit), and read up through halfway through Two Towers, then I lost my copy and didn't really care. *shrug* IMDBing him, I can kind of see it, yeah.
And I have that same issue with characters' names; that's most of the problem I'm having keeping track of everyone on the show. (And a nice side effect of using numbers for the people who bite it; not only are there fewer spoilers, but you don't have to remember/know their names.)
