A/N: Two more ficlets written for [livejournal.com profile] writing_game . These are set in the same universe as He Who Fights Monsters. If you haven't read that and intend to, you should do that first. Spoilers follow. And angst. Lots of angst.

Untitled I (100 words) )

Untitled II (282 words) )
lonetread: (b&w_neal)
A/N: The muse and I decided we're sticking with "Nicole", so here's part 3. (If you missed them: part 1 and part 2.) Written for the week 70 [livejournal.com profile] writing_game prompts "surprise each other with alphabets made of twigs" & "indicators of progress, signs of industry and thought". 166 words. Also, I still haven't ruled out rewriting part 1 and I'm especially concerned about a loss of continuity, motivation-wise, between the first part and later parts; I'd love your thoughts and appreciate your constructive criticism in this regard.

A/N: First posted at week 70 of [livejournal.com profile] writing_game  in two parts (and in slightly abridged form) for the prompts "identify" and "staring straight ahead with your little plastic face"/"a dance we cannot imagine, a dance whose name we can only guess". Set in a universe, begun here, in which Neal is MTF. There's more of this written (and it includes one of my favorite exchanges ever), but I'm considering changing her chosen name, and I'm going to hold off on posting it until I'm certain one way or the other on that. If you want to suggest girls' names that start with "N" (especially if you can think of ones that don't rhyme with "Caffrey"), I'd be obliged.

I intended to write Monsters-verse for this prompt ("taint") and ended up with zombie apocafic. I blame that on [livejournal.com profile] multi_ficathon pimping [livejournal.com profile] zombiebang, and also on [livejournal.com profile] dime_for_12. (In the best way possible, of course.) 100 words, written 8/28/10 for week 70 of [livejournal.com profile] writing_game.

Unnatural Disaster )

Because I'm apparently fixated on Neal sending cards to Peter. :) These drabbles were written and posted 8/26/10 at week 70 of [livejournal.com profile] writing_game (one word has been changed since then, but nothing important). The prompts were "everything was hand-lettered then, not like today" and "save", respectively.

A/N: First posted at week 70 of [livejournal.com profile] writing_game (prompts: "whose name begins with an 'L' as far as you can recall" and "allow"/"community"). Title from the poem "Forgetfulness" by Billy Collins. 400 words (two doubledrabbles), written 8/23-26/10.

Used to Know By Heart )

A/N: Doubledrabble, first posted at week 70 of [livejournal.com profile] writing_game. Background established N/P/E. Title from the poem "Some Days" by Billy Collins. Inspired in large part by this interview with WC's ex-con-artist technical advisor Simon Lovell, as well as by the prompts: "stand-offish, professorial in the worst sense of the word" and "striding around like a vivid god, your shoulders in the clouds". Written 8/22-23/10.

Crossposted from [livejournal.com profile] writing_game (originally posted here). First, the ones in the Self-Portrait 'verse. You're probably going to want to read Self-Portrait, In Skin first.

Confidence Man (100 words) )

Man in the Mirror (100 words) )

With Friends Like These (200 words) )

Moving Boxes (100 words) )

For [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest (fest post, with detailed header, here). Thanks, flist, couldn't have done it without you. Enjoy.

Self-Portrait, In Skin )

This is a belated Christmas present for [livejournal.com profile] zerawolfe7, who is mostly to blame for the idea in the first place. ;) Thanks are also due to [livejournal.com profile] dime_for_12, who beta-read for me -- and who wasn't there for SPAG, so any errors and all grammar/punctuation murdering are mine alone.

Title from Nietzsche, of course. Story is pre-series (spoiler-free); AU, bordering on crack; and basically gen (pre-slash if you're wearing your goggles). 1,560 words/4 pages. Enjoy.

He Who Fights Monsters )

Gotta say I'm not too sure about this one. The muse just kind of stream-of-consciousness-ed it when I thought I was gonna be writing something else entirely, to the point where it literally took me ten minutes to realize what had happened. Which normally is the best kind of writing, but I don't know. However, I don't think I'm gonna get around to rewriting it any time soon (muse doesn't look like she'll be back to help out) -- and if I do, no big deal, right? Since it got the thumbs-up from Zera, I figured there was no harm in posting it (here, at least; [livejournal.com profile] whitecollarfic  and the transfic list will be getting anything I actually like enough to share that widely). Anyway, merry Christmas, Zera. ETA: Crossposted.
