Have a Samverse drabble, inspired by the Day 1 image prompt over on mini_nanowrimo. 100 words. Set after "Getting Reaquainted" (in other words, during 1x01).
 

The Prodigal Son

“Dad’s gone missing,” Dean had said.

Sam had gone silent for a long minute, and the look on Dean’s face made it obvious what his brother was thinking: namely, that Sam had every reason in the world to wish Dean good luck and tell him to go on this rescue mission without him. College, for one. The fact that they hadn’t parted on the best terms, for another.

But mostly the fact that their father hadn’t seen Sam in years, and hadn’t seen Sam at all.

But he didn’t do that. He couldn’t. He was still a Winchester, after all.
