lonetreadWritten for 10_inspirations. I'm considering claiming Being Human general series over there. They're such great prompts, but I don't know.
Anyway, the past two days' word count have been spent on this one drabble (which kind of got away from the prompt, but what can ya do).
Day 28: 138; 29: 117. (I'm going to be sad when this is over.)
For the prompt:
"Nobody drinks alone. Every demon, every ghost from your past and every memory you've held back follows you home." -- Keith Urban : Nobody Drinks Alone
Nobody Drinks Alone
He’s kissing her and her blood is pounding beneath her skin and – this is a bad idea, this. is. a. bad. idea. – suddenly he can’t fight it anymore.
He can’t fight it, he isn’t sure he wants to, and so he drinks.
As her pulse fades, he is filled with her life and with the guilt that that brings.
And then, because he can’t let her die, not for his weakness, he does one more thing for which he is sure he will never forgive himself.
Eternity’s a very long time to live with yourself. He figures he deserves it.
