Guess the Samverse will be tomorrow or something, because only having one point at
writing_game was killing me. Set during the teaser of "The Leap Home, Part 2"; 100 words.
Baptism by Fire
Even under water, Sam could still hear the sounds of the gunshots, both friendly and otherwise, overhead. It amazed him how loud they were.
What was really amazing, though, was that anyone ever survived war.
Sam was by no means a coward, but he’d spent most of his life in safe places – classrooms, laboratories, offices. Nothing like being out in the middle of nowhere with people shooting at you. He didn’t know how anyone did it.
He heard the noise lessen, slowly straightened, and supposed, shifting his gun in his hands, that he was going to have to learn fast.
