Life Update

lonetreadSo, the other day, my parents and I went to the church for that counseling session I talked about a while back. It wasn't exactly... what any of us were expecting.
Finally, I can't believe it's not even July yet. I have never actually looked forward to the end of summer break. This is a first. I want to get back to school NAO PLZ. Gah.
ETA: I'm expecting all this parent-stuff to coalesce into some kind of a John-related Samverse plot bunny at some point. Hopefully. And I will post that other one sometime. I just can't decide whether it's any good or not. *shrug*
For one thing, with me being there, it turned into "all about me", when I was expecting it to be about/for my parents and only peripherally about me. Seeing as how I've had a year of therapy, and meanwhile they're still amazed that people would ever call transpeople by the right pronouns. But no, apparently not, so was that pretty much a waste.
And it turned out to be way more religious than anyone had expected (and yet, we were all saying to ourselves afterwards, "I should have expected that, it was in a church....", lol). Mom was even worried that the woman was going to start saying that being trans was against God's will or something. But at least she was worried about that. And it did sound an awful lot like what Micah's mom said in that one email about it being his cross to have these feelings, or whatever. But she didn't mean it like that, so no worries, guys.
Still wasn't exactly the best thing ever, but at least it kind of got my parents and I talking, afterwards.
(Oh, and I learned that apparently my parents had prayed for me to be a girl when I was born, so I'd survive being so premature, because female-bodied babies have better survival rates. Um. Yeah. When I read that stat, I said "Oh, I bet that's why I'm trans, if there's a reason." They're seeing it a bit differently, I think, but what can you do? >_<)

In other news, I am really not looking forward to going back to work for my neighbor. Mostly because it's up to me to do the planning for this next week, and also because can you get anymore awkward than "Miss Simon"? I think not. *headdesk* But it's my own fault, so I shouldn't complain.
(However, I can complain about the tutor. I mean, I'm glad she was totally happy to use the right name, and it was probably for the best that she took her cues on pronouns from the kids, but the right person to ask about someone's gender is that person, not the kids they're babysitting. FYI.)
