Do you mean like google docs or as in Word format (because I don't actually have that program, I have Works (.txt format, I believe) and Wordpad (.rtf). I'd be able to open it using another program but I wouldn't be able to resend it as a word doc.
As for comments, I just got into the habit of bolding all my comments in the fic and at the end of the doc so that the author could tell the difference between their story and my thoughts.(mainly because wordpad and works don't offer inline commenting like I think word does).
