5/29: Last one! Prompt #04.
Notes: The first version of this, "Dialogue", was 88% dialogue and 12% speech tags. Drabbles are supposed to be introspection, though -- and that story was basically Mick thinking out loud, anyway -- so I took the ideas that had been the basis of "Dialogue" and turned them into this, which I think came out marginally better. And I finally got the end rewritten not five minutes ago, so now hopefully it's improved from there.
un_love_you #04 – I need to want you.

A/N: Set during Sonata, includes minor spoilers. Quote slightly paraphrased; I don't think my muse was paying much attention, either, sorry.
“It’s just, that day in the desert, you made it seem like a big deal….”
Oh.
Suddenly her reaction made sense.
How was he supposed to explain to her, though, that the two things were completely different?
That vampires and freshies had one kind of relationship, he and Beth had another, and the two weren’t supposed to overlap?
That Simone was a professional, while Beth had been putting herself in danger? And that there had been the fear, too, that it would change things between them?
He had no idea.
So he just followed her silently into the house, instead.
