Random Things That Happened
Because I haven't updated in a while -- here's what's been happening:
And I think that's it. Hi, again, all.
ETA: Oh, and (I've been trying to forget about this; apparently, it worked) I didn't get the NASA internship I applied for over the summer. SO going to apply again next summer, though. (And did everyone hear about the new astronaut eyesight reqs? They allow LASIK! FTW! Now if I could just grow two inches....)
1. OU/TX weekend. When the entire campus heads to Dallas and I'm the only one left. (Because no one would take me. Losers.) But yeah, there's no one on this freaking campus. Not even kidding, I saw more squirrels than people on my walk home from the Union for lunch yesterday. (EIGHT squirrels! In 20 minutes! They could take over the campus if they wanted.)
2. Speaking of OU/TX: We won! W00t!
3. Thermo homework is pwning me. It is terrible. He gave us every formula on this one problem, and told us how to use them, and I got an answer like 0.0-something, when the answer was 224. Oops. 9_9
4. Mom and Dad are making me at least call Health Services before I can get a binder. Which is frustrating for several reasons: a) My phone doesn't get signal in my room, or anywhere on my side of the building, so I would have to go outside or somewhere equally exposed to make that phone call for an appointment; b) it shouldn't be their decision, since they wouldn't have to see me wearing it -- as we're not in the same state, and all; and c) it shouldn't be their decision, because they wouldn't be paying for it. And yet, I have to do what they say because my bills are sent there and, whether Underworks goes by something else on the bill or not, they'd still see I bought something and want to know what it was. As unfair as I think it is, I don't want to piss them off by going directly against their stated wishes, either. *sigh* But congrats to everyone else on theirs! (I'm only a little jealous and bitter, really!)
5. I went on a Yahoo-group-joining binge last night. Turns out the groups I tried to join (FtM-trans, FtMs-in-College, and teentransman -- all of whom accept genderqueer-on-the-FTM-spectrum in their applicants, if you were wondering/interested) actually make you reply to emails with an intro-type deal. So I was up a lot later than I expected, but now I'm (hopefully) in more groups and meeting more people, so yay. (Mom and Dad won't be pleased, they think I'm getting ideas or something from all the new people, but whatever.)
6. And in the intro-things for those groups, I had to pick a name. I picked Simon. So you're welcome to call me that if you've been wanting something to call me. It's definitely subject to change, though, once I finally get some outside opinions.
6. Oh, and I wrote another story that I don't think I've plugged here yet. Another Heroes/4400 crossover, "Alchemy". It resides here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3812519/1/Alchemy (Spoiler warning for Heroes' season 2.)
7. And one more thing. Any Heroes fan who isn't reading "String Theory", you're missing out on one of the best Heroes fics ever written (that it has 50 story alerts and over 100 reviews, mostly coherent ones, ought prove my point). http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3555388/1/String_Theory
8. Okay, one MORE thing. Anyone else a Supernatural fan? If you are, and you're not reading Plastic!Winchester Theater here on LJ, you should be. It's done by a girl named
anteka, and it's totally brilliant. This last episode was the long-awaited musical episode. Oh, how much love I have for that crack. *uses PWT icon*
