1. As you can see, I have finally updated my 15. That's been a really long time coming (...understatement), so you should go check them out. As always, if you know who made any of the ones that lack proper credit, let me know.

2. I bothered [livejournal.com profile] clex_monkie89 and [livejournal.com profile] sashataakheru on AIM last night and think I finally have a suitable plot for the WC bodyswap fic. Which is good, because it's extraordinarily appropriate for my first prompt on [livejournal.com profile] writing_game this board, "extenuating circumstances", but I couldn't write that until I'd worked out several large promblems (like not knowing what caused the bodyswap). So, I can write now!

2b. Except that I have loads of homework. Argh. I hope I'll find that sufficient motivation to actually get some homework done.

3. Unfortunately, the WH13 fic is not going so well. Sigh. But at least I'm not on a clock for that one.

4. Speaking of fic with deadlines, oh god the SN/QL. *headdesk* OP of that prompt, if you're reading this, I AM SO SORRY. D: I will finish that fic. One day. Hopefully soon. I will. Honest. DDD:

5. I watched the Psych finale yesterday  morning. <3333 Now all I've got left to catch up on are Dark Blue and Happy Town. (And while I'm on the subject of TV, how disappointed am I that Lone Star and The Event are in the same timeslot? VERY. I mean, obviously, Event is going to have to take precedence, but still. It saddens me.)

6. I went back to TO and the Werelist for the first time in about five years today (technically, I'd been back at TO a couple years ago to update my gender on my profile, but I didn't stay long). Actually remembered my passwords, even. My Werelist account had been deleted, but I made a new one. Hadn't realized how much I missed all those guys. It's good to be back.

7. Saw Toy Story 3 for free at Meacham on Friday night. Such a happy-making movie. \o/ :DDD *love*

Now, time for lunch, then homework, then fic. *nodnod* We'll see how well that works out.

\o/

1. Dexter is Delicious came out the other day. I wish I'd known sooner, I'd have preordered it! Oh, well, I fixed that. It'll be coming soon. :)

2. MAINTENANCE RANDOMLY CAME AND FIXED MY A/C. IT IS NOT ARCTIC!COLD IN MY ROOM ANYMORE. Warranted caps are warranted. Several times, I've made soup or popcorn mostly to keep warm, that's how bad it's been. (I'd have contacted Maintenance myself, but I thought I just couldn't work the thermostat. I'm still not sure I can work the thermostat, but IT'S NOT COLD ANYMORE YAY.)

3. Holy shit WC finale. I don't even. *flails*

4a. Well on my way to figuring out the perfect set of fictional cursed artifacts to use in my WC SP bodyswap sequel. Sasha or anyone else who has knowledge of ancient Egypt, want to recommend me a good pharaoh? Or "things you might find in a pyramid"? Or just hear the ideas I'm working with so far and make sure they make sense (in a "there are no polar bears in the Antarctic" kind of way)?

4b. Also made progress related to the artifact for my WH13 transfic. I was all set to have to give up and use the same or a similar artifact for both of these, but this turned out to work out better if it's not even Egyptian (unfortunately; I have a pharaoh all picked out if that changes!), so I guess that's good. (Although I still keep confusing this and the above. *sadface* That's what I get for plotting more than one fic with a similar plot device at a time.) I just have to figure out whose it was and what, exactly, it is. And I know that doesn't sound like a whole lot of progress, but you'll have to trust me that it is. ;)

5. In less happy news, I have so much homework. It is going to be horrible. D: Sigh. (I already had to miss the Psych finale, the Terriers premiere, and two hours of Dark Blue yesterday just for one class worth of homework and because I couldn't find an open TV. And these are projects. School, gtfo my life plz. I've had enough of you.)

ETA: Check out my 80 points worth of WC fic over at writing_game. I do believe that's a new personal best. By over ten points. *bows*

Short version: All my shows are awesome and fun. I had to strategize to get all my Tuesday shows in yesterday (watched Degrassi in WC and WH13's timeslot, then Covert Affairs, then the WH13 rerun, then the WC rerun), but it was well worth it.

Long version under the cut. )

Shows, I love you. Keep up the good work.

Part 2 of this post, to include BN, RP, and TZ, coming Friday.

OK, so I've literally been online all day today (up at 8:15 this morning, online by 9, it's now 7:30pm -- make that 8:30). Now that we've covered how much I Fail At Life, time for some tab closing, because I need to do something productive, and when things get this bad, that counts. Don't judge. *g*

Tab closing, aka random linkage:
Cut for length. )

In other news, have a cool article on Julia Serano and Ben Barres and a lolarious post from lower_tadfield. A+.

Speaking of grades: I ended up with an A (Tech Writing), three B's (Theory of Computation, Principles of Programming, and Numerical Methods), and a C (HCI) for this semester. Deserved an A in Theory, had been hoping for a B in HCI, but not failing Principles makes up for that. Basically. All in all, I'm okay with that. (Mostly. I emailed my Theory prof. We'll see.)

Oh, and lastly, I have been continuing to fail at WdM. Sigh. That's the only reason I'm writing this post -- because I opened my fic notebook, took one look at SP, and literally sighed out loud, slumped over, and had to use this to procrastinate. *sad panda* But as far as [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest goes, at least I have my Seeker fill to look forward to on the 28th! :D

Pseudo-ETA: Oh, and my class has been going alright. Light-speed, though, geez! Unrelatedly, have some epic win: 65 Million Years With a Creationist.

ETA:
1. Supernatural season 6 spoilers. Huh. I can has s6 nao plz? (And regardless if that's Sam or not, I'm not backing down -- that was, at the very least, not 100% Sam this time. Lucifer and all that blood can't have been good for him, you ask me.)

2. Cute dog rides turtle. :DDDD

3. For 99 years, OED got it wrong. Ha! At least Wikipedia doesn't take a century to figure out when it's screwed up! ;)

First: spoilers for Human Target ep 'Baptiste' and the Psych sf. )

Second: Speaking of HT, I have bunnies. One is HT/White Collar, which, all that business in "Baptiste" is a perfectly logical reason for Neal to hate guns, don't you think? And/or, I could see Geurrero and Mozzie as friends/acquaintances/partners in crime. And the second one is HT/Leverage, which I'm sure could work somehow. Or just be awesome. Along with that HT/BN that I mentioned previously. Seriously, someone should write me one. I'd love you forever. :D

Third, and the point of the post: Speaking of bunnies! [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest opened for prompt submisions today, and there are already so many epically awesome ones! Giant, very multifandom list of my favorite-so-far lgbtfest prompts. That you should totally write. ) And, yeah, this really is the short list. I promise. >_< Aren't they awesome?! (Hopefully someone else writes the BN one so I don't have to!) I'll probably be prompting some DB and a bunch of repeats, myself.

Fourth: I've been randomly reading far more than is healthy about a) privilege, and b) religion (and some lulzy religious fail) in the past few days, and, on those lines, atheistcartoons.com has really lulzy cartoons. This one, however, is not so much lulzy as trufax (and happens to be the intersection of (a) and (b)). Unchecked Christian privilege ftl. Sigh.

Finally: Anyone want to make a sign? Due date's the 9th.

Oh, and also this. Mine's the headstone one. ("Body", get it? Hehe. ...Well, I thought it was clever. Shut up. ;))

Procrastinating --> LJ post that is probably going to end up being gigantic. Ah well. At least I'll finally be caught up and I can start getting better about making more smaller posts rather than fewer huge ones. Hopefully.

First, as always: TV.

Cut for Supernatural spoilers. )

Cut for vague FlashForward spoilers. )

Mentalist, after SN, sure had its work cut out for it. It was no contest, in comparison, but still very good even so. Jane is just awesome.

Cut for Legend of the Seeker s2 spoilers. )

Cut for length. )

Aaaaanyway.

NaNo, plus important news for anyone following my progress on NCT. )

Which will be finished once I say two more things. The first: I got two shirts from ThinkGeek and they are awesome. I Never Finish Anyth, which I've wanted for years; and Enough Social Interaction, which is just plain hilarious. :D

The second thing: more links.

Somehow, despite the fact that I only have one class and work, Mondays are always so exhausting. So I thought I'd update LJ while I relaxed.

TV (see the tags for a list of shows discussed under the cut) )

More name change madness. )

Finally, three four things:

1. The fire alarm has gone off three times in the past two nights, at 5:30am, 7:30am, and last night at 12:45am. THIS NEEDS TO STOP IMMEDIATELY. DX

2. NCT isn't dead yet! It's coming along, slowly but surely; the notes document (in which I'm including the actual text of the story as I write it, my notes and ideas about things to come that I haven't written actual text for yet, and massive chunks of text copied from (*cough*) websites (*evil grin*) (and in one case, from an interview on the DB site)) is about 9.5 pages long now. Which doesn't say a whole lot about the story itself, given that there's still flashbacks I need to (somehow) incorporate into the present timeline of the story itself, some bizarre tense changes I recently introduced that I now need to deal with by changing the tense of the entire story, and a(n Excuse) Plot I have yet to figure out -- but it's still promising! I have hope, anyway. :)

3. Links:
a) Obama's speech at the HRC National Dinner. <3333
b) Legend of the Seeker on DVD. :D
c) And the comment thread that explains so much about Twilight it's scary-yet-wonderful.

4. I finished "Wizard's First Rule"! Finally! All 820 pages of it. FTR, the show is better, but the book isn't half bad either. I don't think I'll read the next one, though, unless s2 is particularly awesome; books of that length are just too much of a commitment. For now, it's onto "Dexter by Design", and then finishing "American Gods".

Now, time for dinner and then skipping LTM and Castle in an attempt to figure out what on earth we're supposed to do for this Data Structures project. >_< Until next time!
lonetread: (pwt)
So, it's September. The really-long unexpected LJ hiatus was part forced and then part just that I couldn't find the time, but I'm back now! (Hooray! Right? Right?) Now to get on with the really long update.

First, the TV rambling, of course, to make it easier for those who aren't interested to skip it. TV (QL, Mental, Psych, et al) )

Relatedly, I've been all over the place fandom-wise since I got reacquainted with the internets. First, BuddyTV links I've been saving for you guys:
The Five New Shows You Must Watch This Fall
Flash Forward
Lucifer is Coming: How SN Stole Twitter

Oh, and speaking of Supernatural, spoilers, and my thoughts on the s5 premiere, 'Sympathy for the Devil'. )
Moving on...

I was also introduced to these Twilight-series recaps last weekend and they pretty much ate my weekend because they're awesome. The basic point is that she's reading the books so we don't have to, because they're that bad. Heh. And they sure sound it. I mean, Edward twirling part of her engine around in his hands while he gives her that little guilt-trip? Drop it in Criminal Minds and it'd almost be great writing. I don't know how anyone can think he's romantic/a good boyfriend/not a sociopath. *shudder* But so as not to offend, that's all I'll say about that, too. (Oh, except that I woke up the other day with a QL/Twilight bunny in my head. I'll just wait till she makes it through Breaking Dawn and then I'll take a crack at that, because boy would it be an improvement. And Sam roundhouse-kicking Edward wouldn't hurt, either. :))

Finally, in the last two three fandom-related things I think I have to say:
1. I think my new Dexter book is here. Tomorrow the post office opens and I can go get my package. Omgyay.
2. Despite the fact that I don't really like the song and am not completely sold on the ship, this vid (NSFW) is without a doubt the best one in the Dark Blue fandom. Seriously. Watch it. You don't have to have seen the show, and this will make you want to.
3. I am in love with both "Wizard's First Rule" by Terry Goodkind (440ish pages/836, and counting), and the TV series, Legend of the Seeker, that was based off those books. We're talking "watched one episode, found the entire series on Hulu on legendoftheseeker.com (go to the 'full archive' tab), and watched the entire 22-episode first season within the space of two weeks" kinds of love. If you need more encouragement than that to watch it: Craig Horner, who plays the MC, looks like the lovechild of Stuart Townsend and Misha Collins. And there's swordfights. Lots of them. I'm serious, guys. (And you have plenty of time to catch up! Season 2 premieres Nov. 7. Go, go, watch and enjoy!)

Onto other things:
Some news links, some news on how the name change is progressing, and some random. ) Here's the two best vids I've found for LotS, just to give you even more reason to watch and to make sure you don't miss them: one to Breaking Benjamin's "Blow Me Away" and a shippy one to Natalie Merchant's "My Skin".

Okay, that's all. Until next time. Which hopefully will be sooner than, say, NaNo. ;)

ETA: The documentary referred to in this (good) article about a trans British boy is now available on YouTube. Here, if anyone's interested.

ETA 2: Also, risking TMI ).

Missed Mentalist last night (you bet I'll be torrenting it) to meet with my group for the speech we were supposed to have today. Then today I get there and I'm hyperventilating and shit (like, for real, I was all tingly) and then the sub couldn't get the video camera to work so she cancelled class instead. *g* I'll be more prepared for Friday, honest.

Oh, and after that, I walked over to Goddard and rescheduled my rescheduled appointment, and as I was leaving the receptionist called me Justin. I didn't even know the people at the desk knew my real name! :D And then she was all "is that alright?". Of course it is! Silly receptionist.

Also I had a really good broccoli-cheese bread bowl from Quizno's. So I'm having a pretty freaking good day. Suprisingly enough. :)

Now to go change for work so I'm not late.

Had a project design due in Java 2 today. At least both my partner and I are the type to put that sort of thing off till Wednesday night, so we stayed up together on AIM until midnight till we got it done. *g* I'm going to try and do some work on it Saturday when I won't be doing anything else, just to avoid all that three-classes-worth-of-homework stress next Thursday. Then I'll watch Burn Notice and Psych. And probably Being Human. And it will be amazing.

TV. )
College. (Computers, and conservatives.) )

And more things. Long things. )

ETA 2: Oh, and Barnes & Noble was having a sale on "paperback favorites", and they included a lot of Gaiman, so I had to get hooked up. And now my books are here! I got Stardust, American Gods, and a short story collection by Joe Hill called 20th Century Ghosts. I read another story in the last one already, and um wow. Yeah. Greatness. :DDD  <3

So, first, regarding my last post: The speeches went on on Friday despite the two snow days. Didn't go too awfully, I don't think. And no, B didn't mention my status in his. Hell if I know where he got two minutes of things to talk about without including that, but somehow he pulled it off. :D

Hung around inside today. Name and pronouns were all over the place, which was entertaining if nothing else. And then my parents and I watched the Psych holiday special. That was CLASSIC. The psych-out was the best ever. Win. :DDD

In other news, I'm not sure what to think about the new Annie and Mitchell. The new guy looks almost like Flanagan, which is strange and awesome and gives me some home, but Annie seems very different. At least maybe she'll have an accent that my Yank ears find comprehensible. *shrug* I'm willing to give it a chance; I just wish it would premiere sooner.

And now, time to go write tonight's word count. So far, 3. I'm thinking more Being Human, but we'll see.

Aaaaallergies. DDDD:

Because list-things-as-I-think-of-them is easier than other formats:

Have a list. )

...And that's all for now, I think, cause if I hurry I can fit in an ep of QL before Psych. I'm thinking "Catch A Falling Star". (ETA: Psych was hilarious. And "Catch A Falling Star"? God, I can practically see the scene in the writer's room. "Hey, guys, I thought of a new episode where Scott gets to sing!" Christ on a crutch, that man can sing.)

1. Hey, [community profile] fandomsecrets, where are my secrets? Plz to be putting them up now.

2. Psych yesterday was not as funny as the others. But at least I got to watch it.

Heck YES. I am registered to vote!

FINALLY.

That is all.

P.S.: Psych was made of lulz. "None of them had an IQ over 40. One couldn't even confirm the spelling of their own name." Hehe.)

P.P.S.: GLBTF yesterday was also made of lulz. Ah, safer sex, how entertaining you are. Especially when the presenter accidentally left his fake vagina in the car to melt onto a pile of condoms and had to use a volunteer's hand instead. Doesn't get funnier than that. :)

ETA: P.P.P.S.: According to someone on the FTM Yahoo group, an MSNBC documentary called "Born in the Wrong Body: Girls Will Be Boys" will be rerunning Saturday (today; 2/9) at 3:00pm Eastern. In case anyone's interested.

Short version: Okay, but not one of my favorites (*cough hack* "Out of the Past" *cough cough*).

Long version:

All in all, I'm pretty happy with all of yesterday's good TV, even if ML could have been better, and I'm looking forward to Psych next week, and hopefully finally getting a start on those ML crossovers I've been promising (can you say "demon-possessed vampires"? *grin*).
lonetread: (Default)

But mostly the TV.

In other news, I'm going back to school tomorrow afternoon, and classes start Tuesday (we get Monday off for rescheduled finals).

And the museum was awesome. Cool planes ftw.

Oh, and I got that Heroes: Saving Charlie book awhile back, since I had a 46%-off coupon. Haven't read it yet. Also haven't read Twilight yet, and don't really think I have the time before I leave (or rather, I have other things I'd rather be doing with my time), but I'll get around to it one of these days. (That and the bajillion other books I haven't read. With the writers' strike, I'm bound to.)

Just like I'll get around to those fics I've promised, Zera. Really I will. What else am I going to do 8:00 on Friday nights after TMC, anyway?
