My parents came and got me yesterday. Today, we went shopping. My parents finally understand why nothing I buy ever fits (stupid short arms and short torso, lol). Regardless, I have a suit to wear to Career Fair, now! With a tie and everything. \o/ It makes me feel spiffy. It's fabulous. I'll probably take a webcam picture sometime and show you all. XD (Also, hooray for fitting in kids' clothes that are way less expensive.)

This afternoon was my court date. When I got to the elevator to go up to the courtroom, my buddy Mr. Guy was coming out of one and was all "Hey, how are you?! :)" and it was awesome. He told me that usually once they scan things, they shred them, but instead he mailed me my original surgeon's letter two days ago, so I could have it instead. Nice, yeah? And then he wished me luck with my hearing, I asked to make sure the court was on the 6th floor, and he left and I went up to the 6th floor.

First thing I did was check with the clerks to make sure I was at the right court (thinking there was probably a second one somewhere that I was supposed to be at, like last time) and I was. So I sat and waited and waited and the judge and some lawyer just kept talking and talking and talking. Some other lawyer and his client got there, too, and were apparently supposed to be there at three also, which concerned me. Finally at about 3:15, I walked down to the other end of the hall to make sure there wasn't a 116th down there, and there wasn't. So I walked back and looked in the door again, and they were still talking. The lawyer asked me if the judge was at the bench, and I told him he was, and they went inside and sat down to wait. I almost followed them in there, but it looked crowded, and I wasn't sure where to sit. Then the other, first people left, and I went inside just as the judge said I was next.

I get up there and the first thing he says to me is "You know what you're asking me to do is pretty controversial?" Um, what am I supposed to say to that? I'm like "Yes *shrug*" and he goes on to say how he sympathizes with me especially because of the restroom thing (which, not like you're usually ID'd to use a restroom, but I didn't mention it). Also, is it just me who's irritated by the fact that the success of my petition may well hinge not on the law, but on the aforementioned sympathy? Pisses me off. D:

Anyway, then he asks me if I have a copy of the Order. (They were supposed to file that with the petition for me, but when do these things ever go according to plan?) Thankfully, I did (had to go out of my way to print another copy this morning, but obviously it was worth it). I hand it over and he says he'll "take it under advisement"; if there's a problem, he'll call me and let me know, but he doesn't expect there to be a problem.

I just damn well better not have to come back in a week when he finishes doing whatever he's gotta do with my Order so he can sign the thing. Fingers crossed that everything works out from here on out. (Hopefully, I got my bad luck out of my system by accidentally waiting on the wrong side of the train tracks on the way home and missing the first train. >_<)

ETA: Oh, and the second thing the judge said to me? "So, CaseWestern, you had surgery there?" Me: "o_o Uh." Name rang a small bell as also being on Medalie's letterhead, so I couldn't come up with the right answer to that question and I'm pretty sure I was rocking the deer-in-the-headlights look. I eventually went with "Uh, yeah, at MetroHealth, in Cleveland." Yeah, "uh, yeah" to a judge. (And when the right answer was probably "no", no less.) >_< No matter how many times I repeat "Yes, Your Honor" in my head, I can't ever get it right, but this time I blame the fact that he threw me off with that question. And when there were people watching! *shame* D: I Fail At Court Forever.
